When I was in LA back in September I stopped by LACMA to shoot in front of the famous Urban Light exhibit.
The artist, Chris Burden originally hails from my hometown of Boston, Massachusetts and the famous lamps are actually 202 restored antique street lamp posts from the 1920s-30s that he collected over a period of 7 years.
Ever since it’s installation back in 2008, Urban Light has become a popular landmark for photographers, tourists and bloggers alike, including yours truly. The lights are solar powered and illuminate at dusk.
I didn’t get as much time in LA to enjoy all of it’s little gems at night so I guess it’s just one more reason I have to return to California.
