Mule Over

The trend train can be a scary thing to catch a ride on.  You never want to seem like you’re trying way too hard to incorporate new styles. So even though I absolutely love trying new trends the key is to not lose your true sense of style identity.

I wear the trends.  The trends don’t wear me.

Get it?  The trend should add to your personal styel — not to be a distraction.

This look is a total blast from the past and giving me Lisa Turtle meets Molly Ringwald (and every other 80s teen idol I was obsessed with) vibes.

If I were a high school student in the 80’s I think this look would be my go-to-uniform — an off-the-shoudler sweater, curve hugging jeans and white kitten mules.   This look pulls from classic 80’s trends, white shoes being one of them, but somehow still remains present.

Jeans and I have always have this love / hate relationship thing.

I love the idea of wearing them because it’s so effortless and classic but trying to find the right fit that works with my height and curves is a constant issue, so that’s why you’ll see sport dress and skirt primarily on the blog.

Since I’m a shortie at 5’4 I tend to need to get my jeans hemmed because I like my skinnies to hit right at the ankle.  This also allows you so show off your shoes if that’s your thing.  

I was pleasantly surpised that when I got these RI distressed skinnies not only did they have enough stretch to fit over my hump I didn’t need to alter the hem.

I’m telling you that never happens.  Like never ever…
