Mary Ann vs Ginger. It’s the ultimate TV fashion face off. I remember watching Giligan’s Island as a kid because it was on before my favorite afternoon cartoons. I don’t remember much of the plot besides the crew being stuck on a desert island but what I do remember is the fashion.
And yes Ginger was the ultimate glam girl, big hair, sultry gowns, and a sashay that exuded old Hollywood glamour and sex appeal. All that being said I still rooted for little ol’ Mary Ann.
Mary Ann to me was just super cute. Her red white and blue fashions were classically feminine without trying to hard. There are all types of sexiness and as much as I love and admire the sexiness of a Ginger, Marilyn or a Kim I identify more with the cute sexiness of a Mary Ann, Kerry or a Mindy.
